In order to be able to configure such a base so that it is strong for supporting a load, despite the use of thin sheet metal, this base is made up so that the vertical folds 5 of the frontal walls 3 are bent into the shape of a U on their free terminal edges and so that the joining rails 1 are fixed to the free uprights 4 of the U-shaped bend 6 which are directed towards the plane of the frontal walls 7. <IMAGE>
