PURPOSE:To eliminate a feeling of physical disorder in operation following switching the speed change characteristic by switching the characteristic from the basic speed change characteristic, in accordance with an operative condition, to the car speed- sensing speed change characteristic synchronously with acceleration or deceleration on the assumption of a specific operative condition. CONSTITUTION:A speed change characteristic changing means B sets the basic speed change characteristic, with an engine load and a car speed serving as the parameter, in a normal running condition, and being based on this basic speed change characteris tic, a control means D performs a speed change control of an automatic transmission C. While respectively in detecting means A, E, when winding road running performing acceleration or deceleration during turning, that is, a specific operative condition is detected, the speed change characteristic is selected into the car speed-sensing speed change characteristic with no use of the engine load but with only the car speed serving as the parameter, and the speed change control is performed being based on this car speed-sensing speed change characteristic. This selection is performed synchronizing with acceleration or deceleration of a vehicle on the assumption of detecting the specific operative condition. Thus the selection from the basic speed change characteristic to the car speed-sensing speed change characteristic can be performed with no feeling of physical disorder. |
