PURPOSE:To improve the adhesion, durability and optical characteristics of a reflection preventing film by treating a glass material with heat, press-molding the material and then vapor depositing a dielectric substance on the surface of the molded material. CONSTITUTION:After grinding a glass material consisting of lead glass, the ground material is treated with heat. The heat treatment is preferably executed by keeping said material at a temperature more than its softening point for a required period. The heat-treated material is molded by means of a prescribed metal mold to obtain an optical glass element forming faces 20, 21. Then, a reflection preventing film consisting of MgF2, etc., is formed on the faces 20, 21 of said material by vapor deposition, etc. The method makes it possible to obtain a reflection preventing film excellent in adhesion, durability and optical characteristics. |
