PURPOSE:To provide an inexpensive optical recording medium which is chemically and physically stable and is capable of high-sensitivity recording and reproduction by a laser beam, by providing an organic thin film layer comprising at least one specified phthalocyanine compound, on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer comprising at least one specified phthalocyanine compound of formula [I] is provided on a substrate. In the formula, each of A1, A2, A3 and A4 is independently a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring group of formula (I), (II), (III) or (IV); each of X1, X2, X3 and X4 is independently hydrogen, a halogen, cyano, nitro, carboxyl, sulfonic group, a substd. or unsubstd. aliphatic hydrocarbon group, an aromatic hydrocarbon or aromatic heterocyclic ring group, or the like; M is hydrogen, a metal to which a halogen or oxygen may be fonded, or the like; and each of k, l, m and n is independently an integer of 0-4. This recording material is chemically and physically stable and is capable of high-sensitivity recording and reproduction by a laser beam. |
