PURPOSE:To form a clear image even immediately after correction of an image, by additionally incorporating a phosphorus acid ester into a thermal recording layer the transparency of which is reversely varied depending on temperature. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material having a resin matrix, an organic low molecular weight substance and a substance for controlling the crystal growth of the low molecular weight substance, the substances being dispersed in the resin matrix, as main constituents is in a white cloudy opaque state at normal temperature of up to T0. When the recording material is heated to a temperature in the range of T1-T2, the material becomes transparent, and it remains transparent even when being cooled again to normal temperature of not higher than T0. Further, when the recording material is heated to a temperature of not lower than T3, it is brought into an intermediate, semitransparent state. When the temperature is then lowered, the recording material is returned into the initial white cloudy opaque state. With a phosphorus acid ester incorporated into a thermal recording layer, the size of crystals of the organic low molecular weight substance can be controlled even with minute quantities of energy, and the development is not changed even immediately upon cooling after heating to or above T3. Therefore, even immediately upon opacifying after heating, a clear transparent image can be formed in a white ground by a minute quantity of energy supplied from a thermal head or the like. |
