Protective boundary for footways and cycle paths or the like, to prevent motor vehicles from travelling on them, consisting of a barrier comprising elongate polygonal or round bars of concrete, plastic, wood or similar solid materials, which is fixedly connected to the ground. The polygonal bar (2) is equipped with spacer blocks (3), it being possible for the spacer blocks (3) to be produced integrally with the polygonal bar (2) or to be adhesively bonded to the polygonal bar (2). At least in their end regions, the polygonal bars (2) are in each case provided with a bore (6), which extends from the top downwards through the bar and corresponds to a corresponding bore in the spacer blocks (3), and in their interior they are provided with a reinforcing tube (4) which extends over their entire length. <IMAGE>
