The component i.e. air deflector (1), has an exterior shell (2) made of reinforced plastic material and defined by a support device that is formed as a closed rib structure (4) made of plastic material, where the support device is fixed to an interior side of the exterior shell by using a glue e.g. gluing band (6) such as epoxy glue or polyurethane glue. The rib structure and the exterior shell are formed as sheet molding compound components. The rib structure includes transversal ribs (12, 14, 16) that are connected by a longitudinal rib (18).
