PURPOSE:To attain automatic focusing within a distance from which a prescribed exposure value can be obtained by controlling the farthest distance to be focused by a photographing lens in accordance with the level of detected luminance. CONSTITUTION:A flashing device 100 radiates illuminating light to an object and a luminance detecting means 200 detects the luminance of the object. A distance restricting means 300 restricts the farthest distance to be focused by the photographing lens. A control means 400 controls the device 100 and the means 300 in accordance with the detected luminance. When the detected luminance is less than a prescribed value, the device 100 is driven, a illuminating light is radiated to the object or a message to drive the device 100 is displayed. At that time, the means 300 restricts the farthest distance to be automatically focused in accordance with the level of the luminance of the object. When a sufficient natural light is left like twilight, the farthest distance is not restricted and when the luminance is dropped furthermore, the farthest distance is restricted to the prescribed value. |
