Pneumatic safeguard against overheating of nuclear reactors
摘要
The invention is a method and device for moderating a nuclear reactor or bringing it to a subcritical state; in contrast to the relatively slow method of sliding in moderator rods used to date, a moderator gas is admitted into the cavities provided for the moderator at almost the speed of sound. The pressurised vessels for the moderator gas are opened by controllable valves, or automatically like a fuse by fusible valves when a certain reactor temperature is exceeded.
