To provide a front-wall lining for automobiles with a cover surface facing the engine compartment and a bottom surface which can be attached to the front wall and is intended in particular to be suitable for absorbing and/or damping sound vibrations emitted by the engine and ancillary units, it is proposed that an absorbent composition is applied as cover layer (3) onto the cover surface of a mass layer of dimensionally stable material, as core layer (2), and a resilient layer, as underlayer (4), is applied onto the undersurface of said mass layer. <IMAGE>
