PURPOSE:To suppress the temperature rise of a liquid crystal panel by arranging a glass base mounting a thin film transistor (TFT) and a glass base with light shielding structure respectively on a screen side and a light source side and using a material with high reflection factor to constitute a part of a light shielding structure. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal panel is provided with the glass plate 31, an amorphous Si TFT 32, a display electrode 33, an opposite glass base 34, an opposite display electrode 35, an Al light shielding structure 36 and liquid crystal 37 mounting a TFT 32 and the structure 36 is formed so as to be superposed to the TFT 32. Since the liquid crystal panel to be used for a projection type liquid crystal display device has said structure, the temperature of the liquid crystal panel can be suppressed to 40 deg.C or less even when the device is driven for a long period. Consequently, the rise of OFF current of the TFT can be suppressed less than 10 deg.C as compared to the case of a room temperature and the deterioration of picture quality such as contrast reduction immediately after operation can be suppressed. |
