PURPOSE:To prevent electromagnetic interference due to higher harmonics. degradation of the insulating properties of a stabilizer and its temperature rise by increasing number of turns of the secondary coil of a transformer to reduce the secondary current to 40-90% of the rated lamp current. CONSTITUTION:The secondary coil 2 of a transformer is increased in number of turns, resulting in increase of the coil's impedance, and the secondary current is thereby reduced to 40-90% of the rated lamp current. At this time, since the voltage across the filament is 3.8+ or -0.4V and hardly falls down even if the secondary current is reduced, functions as rapid-start type is sustained. It is then possible to reduce the peak current value without disturbing the waveform of the secondary current and reduce the higher harmonics. |
