PURPOSE:To obtain a high nonlinear optical element by incorporating a specific compd. having an electron-attracting group, etc. in carbazole skeleton into the title material. CONSTITUTION:At least the carbazole compd. expressed by formula I is incorporated into the nonlinear optical material. In formula, R denotes a hydrogen atom, alkyl group, phenyl group which may have a substituent; Z denotes the electron-attracting atom or electron-attracting group. The carbazole skeleton of the carbazole compd. expressed by formula has the electron-attracting atom or the electron-attracting group and, therefore, electrons transfer largely with electron transition. The nonlinear optical constant at the molecular level is high and the remarkable nonlinear optical effect is obtd. |
