<p>A thermal printer comprises a pair of fixed frames (2) for rotatably supporting a platen (1), a head unit (16) movable relatively to the fixed frames and swingably supporting an elongated thermal head (15) around its intermediate portion, a pair of leaf springs (28), one end of which resiliently urges the head unit toward the fixed frames so that the thermal head is pressed resiliently against the platen across a paper sheet, and a cam member (31) having cam faces (32a, 32b, 32c) which are selectively engaged with the other end of the leaf spring for changing the urging force of the leaf spring by stages in accordance with the quality of the paper sheet.</p> |
