PURPOSE:To manufacture an electrode group easily with an automatic machine by folding a separator along the uneven surface of a jig which furnishes plural recesses, inserting cathode plates and anode plates in the recesses alternatively, and pressing the separator and the electrode plates from both sides after the jig is removed. CONSTITUTION:A jig 1 has recesses of the number responding to the number of electrode plates to compose an electrode group 1 of a cell. A specific size of separator 2 is held by a grip feeder 3 on the jig 1. Then, separator folding patterns 4 are lowered from the upper side to bend and insert the separator 2 in the recesses. The folding patterns 4 apply the first operation to the recess next to the end recess, and following that, the patterns 4 are lowered in order. After that, anode plates 6 and cathode plates 7 are inserted alternatively. Then, after a separating rod 8 is inserted, the jig 1 is set on a table 9 to raise and lower the jig 1. When the table 9 is lowered and the projections of the jig 1 are lowered from the upper side of the separating rod 8, the separator 2 and the electrode plates 6 and 7 are closed to the center by fingers 11 to form an electrode group. |
