PURPOSE:To prevent the destruction of recording information during information reading, by applying energy to a recording medium and performing recording with a difference in light emitting intensity between an energy applied portion and the other portion. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting member emits fluorescence or phosphoresence on receiving excitation energy which may be an electric field, electron beam, infrared ray, and X ray. Record reading is made by applying excitation energy to a light emitting recording medium and detecting a recording-point-dependent difference in light emission thus generated. For example, when an A-Si ultrafine grain film is used as a light emitting member, it emits fluorescence of 600-650nm when an excitation light of 400-500nm is applied. This fluorescence is weakened at a recording portion by the application of energy for writing, for example, by CO2 or semiconductor laser to produce a difference in fluorescence light emitting intensity between the energy applied portion and the other portion. If a photodetector detecting light of 600-650nm only is used, information recorded as a light emitting intensity difference can be read. |
