PURPOSE:To simplify perforation operation by forming a hole as a through-hole in a perforated part before welding a slit part to the section. CONSTITUTION:A mold 1 for honeycomb extrusion molding is composed of a perforated part having a number of holes 4 while are arranged regularly, and a slit part having a number of slits 5 communicating with the holes. In manufacturing the mold 1, firstly a hole 4 in the perforated part is made as a through-hole by a precision casting method wherein ceramic bars 7 are supported on a mold 8 with their respective both ends thereon, around which molten steel is cast, or by a drilling method. Next, on the holed surface of the through-hole, the same or different material is welded by buildup welding or soldering method, a slit 5 of a slitted part is formed on the surface of the welding part by machining, de slit 5 and the through-hole 4 are communicated with each other to obtain a desired mold 1 for honeycomb extrusion molding. By making thus the perforated part and the slit part separately, it is made possible to make the slit part of a material which is suitable for characteristics of the mold 1 (for example, wear resistant material). |
