PURPOSE:To mold an optical fiber in a specific shape without any strain by forming its clad part of a nonlinear tube and molding its core part out of cross- linked resin. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber consisting of the core part 1 where light is transmitted and the clad part 2 which is lower in refractive index than the core part 1 has the clad part 2 made of the nonlinear tube, and the core part 1 is a resin-made optical fiber made of the cross-linked resin. Namely, the optical fiber formed by injecting the material of the core part 19 into the clad part 2 in the tube shape is formed in the specific shape without any strain generated in the molding by forming the clad part 2 in a specific shape. Consequently, an increase in transmission loss due to internal strain is suppressed, and when the cross-linked resin is used for the core member, the shape maintainability of the optical fiber is excellent and its heat resistance is superior. The shape of the optical fiber is determined optionally by varying the shape of the clad part according to the purpose. |
