A method for preparing (5R, 6S)-2-aminomethyl-6-[(1R)-1hydroxyethyl - 2-penem-3-carboxylate is presented. Thus, 2.42g 2-[(3S,4R)-3-[(1R)- 1-allyloxycarbonyloxyethyl -4-(allyloxycarbonyl -amino acetylthio)-2- oxoazetidine-1-yl -2-triphenyl-phosphoranilidene acetate allyl ester in 300ml anhyd. toluene was refluxed for 24hrs under Ar gas and chromatographed on Silica gel plate to give (5R,6S)-2- alyloxycarbonylaminomethyl-6-[(1R)-1-allyloxy-carbonyloxy ethyl -2- penem-3-carboxylate allyl ester.
