<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently desulfurize and denitrate exhaust gas contg. NOX and SOX by mixing the exhaust gas with a precursor generating OH radicals, irradiating the mixture with electromagnetic waves or an electron beam to generate OH radicals and simultaneously decomposing the NOX and SOX with the radicals. CONSTITUTION:Gas 3 contg. a precursor generating OH radicals, e.g., CH3OH and exhaust gas contg. NOX and SOX are introduced into a reaction cell 4 and irradiated with electromagnetic waves or electron beams such as laser light 6 having 193nm wavelength to generate OH radicals. The OH radicals reduce NO to N2 and SO2 to S and the exhaust gas is simultaneously desulfurized and denitrated. Thus, desulfurization and denitration are enabled in a single process.</p> |
