PURPOSE:To conduct thermal transfer recording of fine patterns with fidelity, by superposing an image receiving member prepared from a material having a specified gurley permeability on a thermal transfer recording material and conducting the transfer recording with said recording material while deaerating from the side of the image receiving member. CONSTITUTION:An image receiving member 3 is superposed on a thermal transfer recording material 2 composed of a base sheet 6 and a heat-meltable transfer layer 7 provided on one side of the sheet 6 between a platen 4 and a thermal head 1, and heating is selectively conducted from be side of the base sheet 6 of be recording material 2 to effect transfer recording on the member 3. The image receiving member 3 is one prepared from natural or synthetic fiber paper and has a gurley permeability of 5-100'' at 25 deg.C. Thermal transfer is conducted with the thermal head 1, while be surface of the member 3 is deaerated under a pressure of 10<1>-10<-3> Torr from the side of the platen 4. Thus it is possible to conduct transfer recording of fine patterns with fidelity even on an image receiving member having a coarse surface. |
