PURPOSE:To obtain the titled powder with fine, uniform size, capable of giving high-temperature superconducting ceramics with large critical current density, by provisional sintering of a coprecipitate comprising a rare earth metal component and alkaline earth metal component followed by blending a copper compound with the resultant product and then provisional sintering again. CONSTITUTION:(a) A precipitation-forming agent is added to an aqueous or organic solvent solution of a rare earth metal compound and alkaline earth metal compound to form a suspension of a coprecipitate comprising the rare earth metal component and alkaline earth metal component followed by provisional sintering of the coprecipitate at 500-950 deg.C. (b) The resulting provisionally sintered coprecipitate is blended with a copper compound (and an alkaline earth metal compound) so as to represent the atom ratio: rare earth metal/ alkaline earth metal/copper of specified value followed by provisional sintering again at 600-950 deg.C, thus preparing the objective powder for rare earth metal- alkaline earth metal-copper oxide type superconducting ceramics. |
