PURPOSE:To enable stable high-sensitivity and high-density recording by changing the structure or aggregation condition of an org. compd. by light beam irradiation, then executing reading out of recorded information by detection of a difference in the optical rotation before and after the light beam irradiation. CONSTITUTION:The optically active org. compd. has a hydrophobic group and hydrophilic group, exhibits optical activity and has a light absorptive section within the molecule, thus exhibiting extremely large molecular ellipticity. The structure or aggregation state of this optically active org. compd. changes and the molecular ellipticity, i.e., the optical rotatory powder changes when light is projected on such optically active org. compd. Recording, erasing and reading out of the information are executed by applying this phenomenon to optical recording. The recording medium effective for the high-sensitivity and high-speed recording and reproducing is thereby obtd. |
