MACHINE FOR DELIMBING AND TOPPING TREES

A machine of the type mounted on a vehicle/for delimbing and topping a tree lying on it and characterized by automatic opening and closing of the delimbing jaws and by a cutting blade topping the head of the tree; and this while avoiding complex mechanisms to do so. This machine for delimbing and topping trees comprises an elongated support or frame for lying a tree over it, a carriage, a chain riding the carriage along the support, delimbing jaws pivotally engaging around the tree and displaceable along it with the carriage to delimb the tree, a cam member engaging the jaws to open them upon their return to a starting position, and a cutting blade angularly biased to angularly engage the head of the tree and open and top it in response to its displacmenet with the carriage.
