PURPOSE:To obtain the titled edged tool having long life and capable of carrying out proper use to uses each attaching importance to abrasion resistance and loss resistance in cutting a wood difficult to cut, by forming a composition from beta-sialon and/or alpha-sialon. CONSTITUTION:Si3N4, AlN and Al2O3 and Li, Mg, Ca and Y and compound (e.g. oxide) of rare elements other than La and Ce which are each powder (e.g. having 0.5-1.5mu particle size) are blended, molded and sintered (e.g. at 1atm. N2) to provide the titled edged tool having a composition consisting of beta-sialon (Si6-zAlzOzN6-z; 0<z<4.2), alpha-sialon [Mx(Si,Al)12(O,N)16; 0<x<2 and M is Li, Mg, Ca and Y and rare elements other than La and Ce] or (alpha+beta)sialon. |
