The cold-bending tool, partic. for stainless steel pipes, supports a straight length of pipe (1) at two different points (2A,2B) and also between the points and internally. Bending is achieved by a force at right angles to the pipe axis between the support points, after which the bent pipe is secured only on the outside. A calibration body is then forced through the pipe to give the desired internal dia. Dies (4A,4B,5A,5B) are provided for the pipe, working with a hydraulically-operated bending punch (8). Internal support is provided by a body comprising central (6A,6B) and outer (6C,6D) sections, approx. of the internal shape of the desired bend. |
