In the present invention, in a case where a distortion-correction target region (Atc) is divided and subjected to distortion correction, the divided regions of the distortion-correction region are subjected to distortion correction to generate distortion-corrected divided region images (D3), and a plurality of the distortion-corrected divided region images (D3) are combined to generate a distortion-corrected image (D4). For each pixel of the distortion-corrected image (D4), a gain (Gp) is found in accordance with the scaling factor (MR) of the divided regions which include such pixels and of the divided regions near thereto, each gain is multiplied by a high frequency component (D6) of the pixels, and such result is added to the pixel value of the pixels of the distortion-corrected image (D4). The present invention is configured so that differences in the perceived resolution of the divided regions of the distortion-corrected image (D4) can be mitigated, and so that images with a favorable perceived resolution can be obtained. |
