Preparatory to the laying out of a surface layer of crushed stone on a road surface a liquid bitumenous binder is applied to the road surface by means of a spreader boom (8) having a plurality of rowwise mounted spray nozzles (10). The nozzles are arranged in two parallel rows as high capacity and low capacity nozzles, respectively, and they are individually actuatable by on/off operation by remote control from a control unit. The binder stripes as left on the road behind respective neighbouring nozzles overlap each other considerably, and by actuating the nozzles in a selective manner it is possible to supply the binder to the road in a graduated manner both generally and differentially along the spreader boom, for adaption of the dosage to the cross profile requirements of the road. <IMAGE> |
