PURPOSE:To eliminate breakage of recording action and reduce burden on an operator by switching a roll of paper in a selected recording medium supplier when it becomes substantially empty to a preliminarily designated sort of recording medium if it exists. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of feed mechanisms 10-30 are provided with sensors S31-S33 and residual detecting sensors S11-S13, and if a plurality of rolls of paper of necessary sorts exist, a feed control unit selects a roll with the most residual automatically. However, in case continuous recording is performed in a very large number, if the roll of paper becomes empty in the middle, the feed mechanisms 10-30 are automatically switched when a roll of a preliminarily designated sort of paper exists, and recording action is continued. In this case, the final cut sheet of paper cut by cutter assemblies 13-33 is short, so a sheet of roll paper 11-13 is supplied in addition, and recording is performed for one sheet in addition. Breakage of recording action is thus prevented, thereby burden of work on an operator can be reduced. |
