PURPOSE:To apply an electric field without generating noise by constituting a recording display element of a pyroelectric body layer which gives an electric field by heating or cooling, a liquid crystal layer, and two electrodes between which they are held. CONSTITUTION:This element consists of a pyroelectric body layer 4 which gives an electric field by heating or cooling, a liquid crystal layer 3, and two electrodes 2 and 5 between which they are held. It is preferable that pyroelectric materials constituting the pyroelectric body have a pyroelectric coefficient >=10<-11> coulomb/cm<2>. deg.C. Since the electric field is applied without electric contact with a rotating disk, spark does not occur from the contact. Thus, the electric field is applied without generating noise. |
