PURPOSE:To ensure a predetermined amount of lubricating oil in an oil reservoir by locating the lowermost end edge of a communicating section affording communication between a receiving chamber formed in a frame and an oil returning path higher than an oil level in the oil reservoir. CONSTITUTION:An enclosed casing 1 is provided inside with a frame 2 having a bearing 6 for a drive shaft 7. The frame 2 is formed with a receiving chamber 22 for receiving an eccentric rotary section 8 driven by the drive shaft 7 to rotate a movable scroll 5 relative to a fixed scroll 4. The lowermost end edge 25a of a communicating section 25 affording communication between the receiving chamber 22 and an oil returning path 14 is located higher than an oil level in an oil reservoir 1a. Thus, lubricating oil in the oil reservoir 1a can be securely blocked from interference with the eccentric rotary section 8.
