摘要 PURPOSE:To enable handling of a pinion in a state to dispose it on a drive shaft and to improve assembly ability and inspection properties, by a method wherein the size of a drive shaft insertion hole formed in a propeller casing is set to a value higher than the outer size of a pinion engaged with the end part of a drive shaft. CONSTITUTION:A drive shaft insertion hole 20 and a propeller shaft containing chamber 21, which cross each other, are formed in a lower casing 18 with which a propeller casing 11 is formed in cooperation with a hollow upper casing 17. A collar 22, with which a drive shaft support member and an oil lubricating pump are formed, is engagedly locked to the insertion hole 20. A drive shaft 24, removably coupled to a crank shaft 23 of an engine 15, is vertically engagedly inserted in the central part of the upper casing 17 and the interior of the collar 18, and a pinion 25 situated to its lower end is engaged with a forward gear 29 and a reverse gear 30, engaged with a propeller shaft 28. In this case, the size of an insertion hole 20 is set to a value higher than the outer size of the pinion 25, and assembly ability is improved.
