Device for adjusting the position of an intermediate (lay) shaft 32 with respect to two end shafts 28 and 38 mounted so as to rotate in a support 10. The support 10 comprises a cylindrical housing 56 suitable for receiving a first ring 58 having an eccentric cylindrical housing in which is placed a second ring 68 and also having an eccentric cylindrical housing which receives one end 50 of the shaft 32. By adjusting the relative position of the first ring with respect to the support and of the second ring with respect to the first ring, the value of the distance between centres of the shaft 32 with the shafts 28 and 38 respectively is adjusted.
