PURPOSE:To improve rear wheel steering characteristics, by a method wherein, in a device which controls a rear wheel steering angle based on a front wheel steering power and a car speed, a device to control a rear wheel steering speed based on a front wheel steering speed is provided to compensate for an excessive delay in response during steering of rear wheels. CONSTITUTION:In a device to steer rear wheels with the aid of an electric motor, a means 100 to detect the front wheel steering power or the auxiliary power of a front wheel steering system or a cornering force produced at a front wheel is provided. Means 101, 102, and 104 to detect a car speed, the steering speed of a front steering system, and the rear wheel steering angle of a rear wheel steering system, respectively, are provided. A means 103, having a part 103a to compute the target value of a rear wheel steering angle based on a front wheel steering power and a car speed and a part 103c to compute the target value of a rear wheel steering speed based on a front wheel steering speed and a car speed, is provided. A means 105 to steer rear wheels according to the target values of a rear wheel steering angle and a rear wheel steering speed is provided. |
