The machine includes a pair of baseplates (a,c) sepd. by rows of magnets (b) creating a magnetic field. A stack of foils or sheets (d) to be cut is placed on top of the upper baseplate (c); and the stack is covered by a template (e) made of a rigid magnetic material possessing slight flexibility. Magnetic force draws the template (e) towards the magnets(b), thus eliminating any spaces between the sheets in stack (d). Template (e) is pref. a steel sheet coated on one or both sides with a reflecting materials, esp. Cr, Ni, Cu, brass, Ag or Sn. Magnets (b) are pref. ceramic permanent magnets; and plate (c) is pref. made of brass. Used esp. to cut paper or fabrics which are sensitive to smoke and heat, where the sheets or foils in a stack may possess different compsns. |
