摘要 |
PURPOSE: To enable driving which causes no interference between cells and is hardly affected by characteristic variation of a discharging cell by using a driving method which includes no discharge transition process. CONSTITUTION: Prior to discharge caused by applying a negative voltage to a 3rd electrode 4, a proper potential difference is given between a 1st electrode 10 and a 2nd electrode 5. Then which of a 1st electrode 10 and a 2nd electrode 5 is used as an anode for discharging using the 3rd electrode 4 as a cathode is selected. Consequently, interference between adjacent cells which is caused before selectively by the illumination and nonillumination of the discharging cell can be eliminated and the influence of characteristic variation of the in- panel discharging cell due to the formation of a sputtered film is reduced to prolong the life. |
