Device for feeding material to be conveyed into an eccentric screw pump with an elongated infeed housing of rectangular plan view and an abutting charging housing, a charging screw in the charging housing, and arch-breaker arrangement in the infeed housing. The charging screw comprises a worm shaft and one or more worm webs of specified pitch thereon. The arch breaker has two arch-breaker shafts in parallel to the worm shaft and driven in opposite directions, with arch-breaking elements mounted on them. Their orbits overlap, and approach the orbit of the worm web closely. The arch-breaking elements on the two arch-breaker shafts are arranged in the same areas and mesh similarly to gear teeth, viewed in section orthogonal to the arch-breaker shafts. <IMAGE>
