A process for the knitting of circular-knitted stitch rows, especially of stocking or sock knits, by means of a plurality of knitting systems is specified, at least one knitting system being connected to the already active knitting system or knitting systems during the knitting operation, in order to continue the knit with an additional stitch row. In order to anchor the initial thread of the additional stitch row in the knit in a simple and reliable way, the initial thread of the connected knitting system is knitted by means of a predetermined number of needles together with the thread of the active knitting system preceding or following in the circular direction.
