摘要 PURPOSE:To realize transfer without printing irregularity, by applying a specified amount of a top layer onto a coloring layer and then heating the applied layer onto a thermal transfer recording material so as to make smooth the surface of the top layer for stabilized contact with a transfer paper. CONSTITUTION:An application liquid 8 for a top layer after it is melted by heating is picked up by a mesh roll 6 of 180 meshes, and controlled by a blade 7 so that the application amount is kept, for example, to be 1-5g/m<2>. Then the application liquid 8 is transferred to a coating roll 5 so as to form a top layer 1 onto a coloring layer 2 of a film the feeding speed of which is maintained at about 60m/min. The temperature at this time of the mesh roll 6, coating roll 5 and a back roll 4 are respectively 120 deg.C, 100 deg.C and 40 deg.C. In order to make smooth the surface of the top layer 1, a thermal transfer recording material is heated by the use of a heat roll 9 to cover the top layer 1. At this time, the temperature of the heat roll 9 is 115 deg.C, and the heating time per unit time is about 0.2sec, so that the ink layer is uniformly contacted with the transfer paper.
