Ignition spark detector

The ignition spark detector (4), which is supplied with an alternating voltage, operates with a transistor (9) as an electronic switching element which is switched on when ignition sparks, which are produced by an ignition transformer (11), occur, and, in conjunction with a zener diode (6) and a capacitor (10), reduces the resistance of the ignition spark detector (4) between the terminals (2 and 3) of a flame monitoring circuit (1) for only one current direction and thus produces a direct-current signal (+iF) which is superimposed on the sensor current (iF) which acts as the alternating current. The flame monitoring circuit (1) processes only the resultant direct-current signal (+iF), but no alternating-current signals. The ignition spark detector is predominantly used in the case of gas burners.
