The invention relates to an apparatus for the hydraulic scale-breaking or descaling of rolled stock or the like, especially of ingots of different cross-sectional dimensions, with nozzle beams (1) for holding spray nozzles (2). Hitherto, the problem here has been the optimum adaptation of the nozzle beams in a descaling plant as regards the nozzle spacing and the effective descaling width to a widely varying rolling programme. According to the invention, the spray nozzles (2) are arranged on the circumference of rotatably mounted nozzle beams (1). Rows (15) of nozzles with different numbers of nozzles (2) are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle beams (1), the nozzles being at different distances from the surface of the stock. A nozzle beam (1) is expediently designed as a solid block which can be slipped over a water-carrying inner supply tube (3). The inner tube (3) and the nozzle beam (1) have a number of transverse holes (5) corresponding to the maximum number of nozzles (2) required. <IMAGE>
