<p>PURPOSE:To prevent an accident due to snow deposit beforehand by winding a spiral cable of low Curie material and another spiral cable of strong magnetism compactly about the external surface of a cable. CONSTITUTION:A flat armor rod 1 having a low Curie constant and another flat armor rod 2 having strong magnetism are wound compactly about the external surface of a cable 3, and the surface of the rods 1 and 2 is covered with a water-repellent material 4. According to the aforesaid construction, electric current flowing in a power cable is used, together with heat generated due to the eddy current of the strong magnetic substance and a hysteresis loss, to prevent the deposition of snow. Furthermore, the rod 1 becomes a magnetic substance only at a low temperature and generates heat due to the flow of electric current. This rod 1 turns to be non-magnetic at an ordinary temperature and does not generate heat. Consequently, overheat at the time of full current flowing in the summer season can be prevented. Also, the water-repellent material 4 repels a water drop and snow containing a large amount of moisture hardly deposits.</p> |
