MASS PRODUCTION OF YOUNG SEEDLING OF PANAX QUINQUEFOLIUM L.

PURPOSE:To induce a callus to an adventitious embryo in an extremely short period of time, to induce and multiply the adventitious embryo in high induction ratio and to produce young seedling efficiently. by using a flower germ of Panax quinquefolium L. as an explant and carrying out tissue culture. CONSTITUTION:About 5mm flower germ obtained by removing peduncle and flower calyx two weeks after germination from a bud of Panax quinquefolium L. from Nagano Prefecture is sterilized and washed. The flower bud piece is transplanted into an MS medium and cultivated in a dark for 12 weeks to give adventitious embryos. A mature embryo is taken out from the embryos, transplanted in an agar medium and cultivated under lighting for 4 weeks to give a shoot. The prepared shoot is cultivated in a MS agar medium under lighting to give a clone seedling.
