The cylinder blocks (2) of the engines run through the baths or work stations of the installation on support frames (20) which have a lower frame part (22) which can be connected to the cylinder block (2) and which is submerged with the cylinder block (2) into the baths (27) and, as far as necessary, is moved or swivelled together with the cylinder block (2) in the respective bath (27) by means of a drive (40) arranged on an upper frame part (21). The support frames (20) are transported between the baths (27) or work stations by means of transferring devices or the like and set down at the baths (27) or work stations while being separated from the transferring devices. <IMAGE>
