In the case of an arrangement of a proximity sensor to permit use of the latter to provide warning of break-ins in motor vehicle alarm systems, and of a metal body which is assigned to the said proximity sensor as a counter-contact and is situated on a window pane of a motor vehicle, according to the invention the metal body is directly fastened to the window glass by means of a spring clip, the spring clip, owing to its own elastic deformation in the slipped-on condition, imparting a prestressing force to the window pane which helps to ensure that the window pane is completely destroyed when violently acted upon, thus ensuring the response of the proximity sensor aligned with the metal body and the subsequent actuation of the alarm.
