PURPOSE:To obtain the title additive excellent in an ability to prevent scumming and capable of giving a good printed matter of a high ink concentration, by block- or random-copolymerizing alkylene oxide units with, for example, polyeth ylene oxide units. CONSTITUTION:4C or higher alkylene oxide units are block- or random- copolymerized with, for example, hydrophilic polyethylene oxide units to obtain the title additive comprising a compound (formula I-IV) of an average MW >=400, having 4C or higher alkylene oxide units unsubstituted or substituted with a lower alkyl, an alkoxy, an alkylthio, an aryl or the like. 1-10wt.% this additive is added to a planographic printing ink.
