PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of leaked light due to attenuation of the effective electric field of liquid crystal by detecting the quantity of light transmitted through a shutter aperture part and shifting the level of the potential difference between a common electrode and a segment electrode in such direction that the shutter aperture part is optically turned off. CONSTITUTION:Not only common electrodes Ca and Cb which control aperture parts A and B for the purpose of recording an image and a segment electrode Sg but also an aperture part C and electrodes 1025 and 1026 which control this aperture part C are formed in a liquid crystal shutter array. During the recording processing, not only a square wave voltage is applied between electrodes 1025 and 1026 in such direction that the aperture part C is optically turned off but also the leaked light of the aperture part C is detected. Each time the quantity of this leaked light exceeds a certain value, a voltage Vt' applied between electrodes 1025 and 1026 and applied voltage Vca and Vcb to common electrodes Ca and Cb are shifted in such direction that the attenuation of the effective electric field of respective liquid crystal layers is corrected. Thus, the attenuation of the effective electric field of liquid crystal is corrected to prevent the occurrence of leaked light. |
