PURPOSE: To attain the automatic matching of a data processor with plural different communication networks by setting the operation of a transmitting and receiving means based on an identifier for identifying the communication network from a coupling means. CONSTITUTION: A data processor 1 is connected through a MODEM 3, socket plug 5, coupler 4, and socket plug 6 with a telephone communication network. An identifier for identifying the telephone communication network of the country is set in the coupler 4 corresponding to the country, and the operation of a general asynchronizing receiver/transmitter is controlled through the digital signal processor of the MODEM 3 according to the read identifier so as to be matched with the reference of the corresponding telephone communication network through a converter/control logic device or the like. Thus, the data processor can be automatically matched with the plural different networks.
