The on-line drawn fibers are passed through a quartz tube provided with heating means and exposed to borazine diluted in an inert gas at a rate such that the borazine is pyrolyzed to boron-nitride which deposits as a protective shield on the fiber. The mechanical performances of the coated fibers at high temperature are strongly enhanced. |
