PURPOSE:To prolong service life of a magnetic filter by forming a magnetic field so that the direction of magnetic force emitted from a supporting member is made orthogonal to the surface of a filter medium. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic filter for filtering contaminant contained in operating oil is provided to a hydraulic circuit. The magnetic filter is constituted by pinching a pair of discoid filter members 52 with ringshaped supporting members 51a, 51b whose cross-sections are a rectangle. The supporting members 51a, 51b are made of a permanent magnet and the magnetic flux is directed to the direction nearly orthogonal to the surfaces of the magnetic members 52. Therefor magnetic material trapped on the filter members 52 is arranged so that it is superposed to the direction of magnetic flux and the time until the surfaces of the magnetic members 52 are completely covered is made long and thereby service life of the filter is prolonged. |
